This talk will outline how digital media and the availability of huge quantities of data are creating new opportunities for the public’s participation in astronomy. In particular, Fiona will talk about the Royal Observatory’s mobile guide to the night sky, Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition, and a new programme of citizen science.
